Storms of Faith

With wings of darkness, and crimson eyes,
The hatred swarms with battle cries.
Wielding their destruction, in weapons of faith,
The anger and condescension, a war it creates.
Between the innocent accused, and the cults of God,
His followers give Him words, and He gives them a nod?

Blood spilled at the hands of the righteous,
Screams of those born into this pain,
This God is a cruel one,
Allowing the innocent to be slain.

We weep and we stand,
For our rights and our kind,
But down you cut us,
Calling us maligned.

Give us our freedom for which we deserve,
And end the hypocrisy, your perfection unnerve.

With your God telling you we are not worthy,
And your leaders telling you we have sinned,
Give us a chance to show you our hearts,
And not be falsely condemned.

This God gave us life too,
And it is not a choice,
For if faith calls for hate,
Then why listen to this God's voice?

A Simple Midnight Walk

A simple midnight walk.
Sky like a panther's fur.
Ground so bare and gray.
Stars flickering between.
Sheer December cold and silence wrapped around the dimly blinking street lamps.
Light footsteps echo through the fog.

Wandering with no destination, no thoughts, and no intentions.
Clearing thoughts, and taking in the silence.
Meditating with movement, step by step through the endless night.
Calming, relaxing, no thoughts.

Feeling the presence of earth, time, space, and energy.
Fusing soul and spirit.
Dancing lights, intertwining their infinite strands of life and mind.
Weaving enlightenment.
Understanding true peace.

A simple midnight walk.
Meditation of this generation.
Solid ground, no distractions around.
Cold air nipping at your skin through your clothes.
Senses rendered useless.
Nothing but clear mind.

Revitalized.

You are You

A night with no stars, a morning with no sun.
Storms without clouds, and life without fun.

Everything has something, to make it what it is.
A Woman has her compassion, and a Man's pride is his.

The relation we give, to what makes you, you...
Is just another thing, that makes you, too.

A night with no stars, a morning with no sun.
Storms without clouds, and life without fun.

We're all special, with that something unique,
A tree's many rings, or a river's small creeks.

The Arrow to my Heart

His words like wood and stone.
His anger carves an arrow.
His voice the bow to deliver.
His pain the drawn-back string.
His shattered trust lets go.

The arrow to my heart,
One for which I asked for.
His love thrown back at him,
His soul to shreds, I tore.

Growing to Understand

Aqua,
Terra,
Aero,
Cosmic,
Life progresses,
Never still,
Life goes on,
As long as there's will.

Earth will survive,
Life will expand,
The Universe inhabited,
By creatures of this land.

Forever exploring,
Our limits and boundaries,
With none in view,
We will always feel free.

From Aqua,
To Terra,
With Aero,
and Cosmos,
We started so small,
And so insignificant,
Only to grow,
And embrace what is different.

With wars waging, and flooding blood,
A Human can still stop, and look to the mud,
To take his enemy's hand, and help him to his feet,
And continue on, with heart not skipping a beat.

The only thing more infinite than the Universe;
Is Human Benevolence.

Heaven's Kiss

Resonating joy,
Harmonic bliss,
Voices wash over me,
A Heavenly kiss.

Hundred hearts,
Sing as one,
With souls of beauty,
Woven with tongue.

The song of joy,
The gates to bliss,
Within the notes,
Of Heaven's kiss.

Halloween

Orange and black,
Bags of snack,
Pumpkin lights,
A night of fright.

Children play,
Fear and horror,
Disguise they wear,
And knock at door.

Cold settles in,
Return to reality,
All Hollow's Eve ends,
And back to mortality.

Is This Life?

Wake up.
Regain control.
Freed from the Nightmare,
Freed from that Role.
Memories of you,
Fear of the Present.
Emptiness.
Longing.
Morning Light seems filled with Blight.
Find only sanctuary in midst of Night.
Tears of Sorrow.
Tears of Wonder.
Why did you do this?
Where are you now?
Marco.
Polo.
Heart of Death,
Mind of Oblivion.
Screaming.
Deceiving.
Believing.
Is this Life?
Or is this Death?

On a Wing and a Prayer

I found this beautiful and inspiring poem today on this website, and I really wanted to share it with you all. I hope the author doesn't mind, not that I could find the actual name of the author on the website. I don't take any credit for this piece of work. Please enjoy this wonderful piece!

I’ll never forget that fateful day
When I heard the doctors say
We have bad news, the tests are in
I suddenly lost my happy grin.

They said don’t fret, but to no avail
We will get through this..we will not fail
There is no choice, we must stand tall
And beat this thing, once and for all

Three months have passed and I am weak
My body tired, my soul so bleak
I will get through this that I know
But at this moment, it does not show

I want to rest my weary fears
And pretend for a moment that I don’t care
To carry them all through the day
Just makes it harder…please go away

Four months have passed and I am bright
My cheery soul shines through the night
I think I’ve beat this monsters grip
My strength and courage, I came equipped

Today’s the day they’ll tell me so
You’ve beat this thing…one month to go
Let’s sing and dance the night away
I’m happy now…so won’t you stay

I always knew right from the start
I would prevail…for I’ve got heart
They said don’t fret…what did they know
I had to prove it was my show

I fought this beast and now I’ve won
Thank you mommy…said my son
I don’t know what I would have done
For it was all or merely none

I' ve shown such strength and through it all
I never wavered, I stood so tall
I made it through, from there to here
All because of a wing and a prayer

The Leaves

The leaves had a wonderful frolic.
They danced to the wind's loud song.
They whirled, and they floated, and scampered.
They circled and flew along.

The moon saw the little leaves dancing.
Each looked like a small brown bird.
The man in the moon smiled and listened.
And this is the song he heard.

The North Wind is calling, is calling,
And we must whirl round and round,
And then, when our dancing is ended,
We'll make a warm quilt for the ground.

November

The leaves are fading and falling;
The winds are rough and wild;
The birds have ceased their calling--
But let me tell you, my child,

Though day by day, as it closes,
Doth darker and colder grow,
The roots of the bright red roses
Will keep alive in the snow.

And when the winter is over,
The boughs will get new leaves,
The quail come back to the clover,
And the swallow back to the eaves.

The robin will wear on his bosom
A vest that is bright and new,
And the loveliest wayside blossom
Will shine with the sun and dew.

The leaves today are whirling;
The brooks are all dry and dumb--
But let me tell you, my darling,
The spring will be sure to come.

There must be rough, cold weather,
And winds and rains so wild;
Not all good things together
Come to us here, my child.

So, when some dear joy loses
Its beauteous summer glow,
Think how the roots of the roses
Are kept alive in the snow.

Autumn Poem

In autumn when the trees are brown
The little leaves come tumbling down
They do not make the slightest sound
But lie so quietly on the ground
Until the wind comes puffing by
And blows them off towards the sky.

The winds will blow their own freshness into you,
and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you
like the leaves of Autumn.

Google Wave

A friend sent me this poem that a friend of his sent to him, and who knows where it came from before that. If anyone knows where it originally came from, or who originally wrote it, please let me know so I can give credit where credit belongs.

Enjoy!

Wave at me please
I know you'll be pleased
to give me a Wave
and make my day
I'm a student you see
but not geeky
I don't do business
or philosophy
I'm studying theatre
you know the arts
and creating new work is my favorite part
we work on group projects
from movement to scenes
and currently there isn't much textual collaborating
I want to use Wave in the creation of art
from the writing of grants
to the more fun parts
Just think of a play being written in Wave
by a collaborative group,
it's something I crave
So....
Wave at me please
I know you'll be pleased
to give me a Wave
and make my day

Untitled (for now.)

A close friend of mine, and his friend have been working on this piece. It is an ongoing work, but I managed to get permission to post the unfinished copy here in my blog. I hope you all enjoy it, and please excuse any typos on their behalf, one of them speaks English as a second language.  :)

Await the coming storm. Behold the sign in the sun.
Chaos upon us spawn! The arrows of time pinpoints us all.
Oh, well the maddening laughter growing louder with the memories.
Atoms like incense rising, like a thousand candles all blown out
at once.
Fear tangled with despair. This ghastly symphony of malice breaks it.
The spirit sails out on waters. An intergalactic sea of sorrow.
Solemn oblivion with thee.

Ways of darkness.
The third eye reflects the images of vast reluctant pasts.
Ethereal eternity awaits the final act.
It crawls toward the altar destinied to collaps.
Tragic legend, eerie stratum.

Twisted, this mortal flesh evoked again, with echoes still haunting;
The curses chanting.
Embrace the outcast state of chaos. After all its unalterable.
Beweep this thought, then arise with wisdom,
Nowhen I hallow in the gateway of different plains.
Open your heart and let go. Oh Vanish. Divine infinity.

Ah, this wraith I am. So many aeons ago since.
Ah I suffer eternally. The inevitable did unfold.
Oh well, a collection of particles held together
by the force of a soul and its memory.
Be warned (you stand) on the edge of infinity;
Where coloured waves will lead the way into the void.
Fear tangled with despair. This ghastly symphony of malice.
Oh well the maddening laughter growing louder with memories now.
Atoms like incense thing.

Ways of darkness.
The third eye reflects the images of vast reluctant pasts.
Ethereal eternity awaits the final act.
You are drawn towards the altar destined to collaps.
Tragic legend, eerie stratum.

In between the arrows of time I suffer eternally.

Seeking Hope

Endless black, seeing without vision,
and roads of infinite depth,
walking to hope, and living in dreams,
mind existing outside shell,
with connection to reality severed,
cannot feel cold, cannot see road,
source of mysterious energy,
propelling forward to hope.
When will dreams shatter?
When will hope be experience?

A Splendid Rose

A Splendid Rose,
Stood all alone,
Surround by,
A wall of stone.

Around the wall,
Were roses too,
Still neither knew,
The other grew.

So often we,
Like flowers dwell,
Too deep within,
Our human shell.

And pass through life,
Not understood.
Nor making all,
The friends we should.

Fusion

Tick, tick, the clock whispers another hour,
Time crawls by, falling petals of a flower.
Waiting patiently with chin in hand,
Tapping your foot on the fertile land.
With nay to do, and motivation none,
You wonder what denies you fun.
Busy as can be, everyone around,
I stop and take your hand, pull you up off the ground.
Awe in the feeling of bliss,
The life you would have missed.
Together we are one,
Apart we are none.

Solitude

Worn out.
Tired.
Dazed.
Asleep.

Not aware of life, or what it keeps.

Unknown.
Hidden.
Shadowed.
Locked.

My mind shuts down, with the ticks of the clock.

Why?

I lay beneath the stars one night,
and dream my dreams with mind's sight.
Time ticking away and nothing to do,
I wander and wonder if true loves true.
With sparkling lights glittering above,
I think of what makes us long for love.
Partnership, companionship, mate, and friend,
Just another body is all it is in the end.
What is love, and why does it matter?
The pain intense with the heart's shatter.
We weep and cry with pouring eyes,
And we never stop to ask ourselves "why?"

Balance

I think of life, knowing not what it is,
And contemplate the birth of hatreds.
I don't want to imagine a world where enmity reigns supreme,
You know deep down exactly what I mean.
Without hate, we would not recognize the love we cherish so dear,
We wouldn't value it, it's significance not even slightly clear.
I wish for the world to only love,
But I do not want affection to lose it's meaning.
No matter the one you share the feeling above,
From within all of this hate, your love you're weening.
Soon to flourish with blossoms of joy,
Our love is something we must simply enjoy.

-Devin Gaughan

Benevolence

I just want to be,
I just want to smile,
Can I be free?
Just for awhile?
I don't want to sound sappy,
I just want to play,
Can I be happy?
Just for today?
Leave us alone.
Let us live life.
The joy we have shown,
It's drowning in strife.
